Studies are increasingly showing that excessive homework is not only ineffective, but counterproductive! Our third grade team believes that to keep our students engaged, curious, and willing during school hours, they need to have time outside of school to explore, get physical activity, spend time with family, and just be kids. To that end, we have implemented a self guided and choice based homework system. With the goals of mastering math facts and reading nightly in mind, we encourage students to choose an appetizer and an entree from our Homework Menu four times per week... and of course, everyone loves dessert! Students will be sent home with a menu of activities each week and they can choose hat and how they do their homeworkers. They can return their checked off menus on Mondays for a prize incentive!
